About Tim Nguyen — Tim Nguyen

Hi! I’m Tim Nguyen! I’m a photographic artist and freelancer, born and raised in Calgary, Canada. I run Studio323 where I offer portraits, advertising, and produce all of my creative work.

I’m inspired by the Dutch Golden Era of painting, by photographic icons Helmut Newton, Sam Haskins and Annie Leibowitz, by cyberpunk culture, and by the grandeur of live theatre.

I was voted Best Photographer in the Best of Calgary 2020 survey, which was super cool as the only performing arts photographer in the category (thank you again, Calgary!) I have documented hundreds of shows in my career, and while The Arts is just one portion of my business, it is the community that I came up through and is, without question, where my heart lives.

I spent the first shutdown finishing and releasing over 50 creative shoots that had been long-since backburnered. Taking the time to introspect and re-evaluate why I had created some of this work opened my eyes to whole new through-lines and the external influences that have shaped my journey as an artist.

Fact Facts About Me:

I spend as much time in the mountains as I can camping and hiking with my incredible wife, Ana
I have a 20lb ginger cat named Hobbes who is as loud as he is adorable
I have been in 22 countries, all with a camera in hand, and plan on being in at least 22 more once we’re allowed to travel again

In 2020 I rebranded my business from "Citrus Photo” to Tim Nguyen Co. The shift, and this new website are intended to elevate my artwork alongside my freelance work.
