A Study in Burlesque
Following the Freeform Dance Series, which focused on contemporary dance and natural light, I challenged myself to create a piece with similar perspective using only studio strobes. I wanted high colour. I wanted faster action and movement. Costumes that moved. Burlesque was the immediate choice.
I challenged those vibrant, fearless characters to bring their showtime energy to an empty room and was blown away by the result. I followed dancers through their routines and created this imagery on the fly.
